we happened up this adorable stand at the sonoma-marin county fair last weekend. what could be better than blue vertical stripes, dutch maidens, windmills, and delicious funnel cake? the county fair was amazing! if you are in the bay area it is a must for next year...

sometimes we find inspiration in the most interesting places. we were at tilden park in the berkeley hills this past weekend and while my daughter was riding the carousel, i noticed this cool windmill painting above the horses. if you live in the bay area, this park is definitely worth a visit! xo, mm

dutch windmill in san francisco

we are lucky enough to have our very own set of dutch windmills on the west end of golden gate park in our beloved san francisco. the first one, completed in 1902, was erected to supply the lush landscape of golden gate park- the largest botanical garden in the world at the time- with fresh water. it was so successful that a second windmill, called the murphy windmill, was built a few years later. although they stand in disrepair today, they remain stunning icons of our city.

year of the ox

we were asked again this year to be part of a group print show at Giant Robot in Los Angeles honoring the Year of the Ox, or year 4707 on the lunar calendar. we like this smaller format and are thinking about doing prints of all of 12 animals in a similar style. click here to purchase.

we were checking out some of our favorite blogs this morning and came across a sneak peak of artist Jill Bliss' home on design sponge. we were pleased to see our windmill print framed on the wall in her kitchen, along with some other adorable prints. the clog on the right wall also very cute!

birds & blooms of the 50 states

introducing our newest print series "birds & blooms of the 50 states"

birds and flowers have (obviously) been recurring themes in our work but we wanted to develop a project that included specific birds & flowers as opposed to generic ones. and instead of creating prints that feature just any old flower or bird, we decided to use the state birds and flowers to tie our prints together. our first three prints of this series feature the state birds and flowers of california, illinois, and new york. they are original illustrations that are letterpress printed in three colors
on 100% cotton printmaking paper.
